Recently I was thinking “What did I think of sunsets BEFORE I was AZWC?” I am certain I noticed sunsets, how could I not? I guess they hold more meaning for me now. I also happen to work in a location high up on a hill in Deer Valley, the sunset views are phenomenal and I am known to drop everything I’m doing and run out of the house to take pictures. My employers used to think something was wrong when they would see me running around, but they don’t anymore. They love having a weather chick working for them. I get asked numerous times a day about the temperature, whether or not a jacket is needed for the evening, if the weekend will be good, or how I feel about storms being named. Hell, if The Weather Channel stopped naming winter storms, we wouldn’t have anything to make fun of, meow would we? (yes I said “Meow”) I have to be going meow, TA TA for meow!

A quick pic on visit to Deer Valley Airport

This sunset was on February 10th. I gave my charge, Mikie, my old camera. She now joins me in documenting the sunsets!

Here is Mikie wearing her favorite jeans, in her super photog stance. She is fun to watch.

As you know, I am a super huge sucker for a good sunset. But in the last month here in Phoenix, the sunrises have rivaled the sunsets. I finally have enough pictures to do a sunrise compilation. These are all taken from my bedroom window.

The above is a sunrise from beginning to end.

It finally rained buckets last night here in Arizona! It was a beautiful sight! I took this little video of the rain last night, courtesy of the park lighting.
The last Annular Eclipse happened in 1994. In 1994 I was rocking out to Ini Kamoze, doing the “Hotstepper”. Everybody and their brother had seen Forrest Gump, and could quote it by heart. “Run Forrest, RUN!” So annoying. I have never been a movie quoter, it isn’t my thing. In the comfort of my home, I do chat along with Twister and Sense and Sensibility. You will rarely hear me quoting a movie or TV show. Anyhow, back to the eclipse. I staged out at Deer Valley Municipal Airport, a bit early. As time went by I grew restless. I just didn’t think it was going to happen. Ok, wait….I did know it was happening, I didn’t think I was in a position here in Phoenix to see it. So I went to the store, grabbed a few things and low and behold I come outside and this is what I saw. These photographs were taken on Mayo Boulevard and 56th Street. Enjoy!

Good Day! Yes indeed it WAS a good day. My pessimism springs eternal when I see a 20% chance of rain in the forecast for Phoenix. I just didn’t buy it. I figured it would be mainly Southern Arizona that would experience the bliss of weather. I wasn’t bitter, not one bit. Envious? Absolutely. However, while waiting outside the YMCA for my charges’ basketball practice to end, the storm rolled in. I ushered her into the car, and got moving back to the house. I did not want to miss one minute of it. I filled my memory card with ease today. Here are some pictures that I took during this storm today in Phoenix.
